Increased customs control in EU

All earphones destined for the EU need a CE certificate. CE MarkOne of the product requirements is to comply with the RoHS-Directive (2011/65/EU). Until recently there was very little control. However, in 2016, three of our containers full of earphones and headphones were opened in Rotterdam port. Samples of each model were taken and evaluated in a Customs laboratory. This is good news for companies like us that make every effort to comply with regulations. A lot of earphones are still sold into the EU with fraudulent CE certificates. The product does not actually comply. If these products are checked at entry and found non-compliant, the goods will be refused entry. Buyers of these earphones will have to disappoint their customers. A new shipment from China may take up to three months to arrive.
