Global economic uncertainty and a slowing China are affecting cargo markets. Air and ocean transportation providers have been struggling to match capacity to demand since 2015. Initially the surplus capacity meant falling shipping prices, but recently the providers have been cutting sailings and flights, resulting in rising freight prices. Providers have been withdrawing cargo space at the last moment, which has resulted in having to re-book cargo space on a next sailing/flight. In practice this may mean delays in deliveries. Where possible we try to take this into consideration in our planning.
